About Llama Mama Fibers
Llama Mama Fibers was born out of my love for knitting and for my small herd of llamas. Llamas require annual shearing and I wanted to put that fiber to good use. So, I started getting it processed into roving and yarn. There was too much to use myself, so I opted to share that fiber deliciousness with fellow fiber enthusiasts. Being a fan of camelids in general, I expanded my fiber adventures to include processing alpaca and llama fibers into yarn and roving. I practice a number of fiber arts including knitting, weaving, needle felting and spinning. A few years ago, I added sewing and bag making to my fiber repertoire. Now I sew project bags, tote bags, aprons and other specialty bags for the fiber arts to sell in addition to my llama and alpaca yarns and roving.
Llama Mama Fibers offers a variety of yarns and roving processed from Oklahoma llamas and alpacas. My products can be found in local yarn shops and at fiber festivals. These yarns and roving often include blends of wool, bamboo, silk and other complementary fibers to enhance the natural beauty of the llama and alpaca fibers. Many of these yarns and roving are natural colors. However, I work with Wooleyboogers Felt Creations to hand dye many of these yarns and rovings into unique colorways. These yarns are wonderful for knitting, crocheting and weaving. Spinners delight in creating their own unique yarns from my beautiful roving.
Llama Mama Fibers also produces a variety of hand-sewn bags for use by fiber enthusiasts and the general public. My most common bags are project bags for individual fiber projects and large tote bags with lots of pockets to carry multiple projects at once. I also sew aprons for crafting or cooking and many miscellaneous bags suitable for a wide variety of uses. I use bright, colorful and unique cotton fabrics for my bags which are machine washable.
